Taken during the 2020 Tour de France, this image is part of Tino Pohlmann's book "Le Minéral du Tour" — an 18-year study of the race told through its landscapes rather than its riders. Pohlmann strips the Tour down to its raw elements: stone, altitude, weather, and the human effort set against them. Here, the jagged rock face of Col de la Loze rises above Méribel, one of the mountain passes that gives the race its name and its punishment.
