Part of Tino Pohlmann's book "Le Minéral du Tour," this photograph was made during the 2020 Tour de France, part of his 18-year exploration of the race told through landscape rather than the riders. Pohlmann strips the Tour to its raw elements — stone, altitude, weather, and human effort against them . This image shows the mist-wrapped peak of Col de Balme, its scarred limestone slopes cutting through cloud on the French–Swiss border.
