Part of Tino Pohlmann's book "Le Minéral du Tour," this photograph was taken during the 2020 Tour de France as part of his 18-year study of the race told through landscape rather than the riders. Pohlmann strips the Tour to its raw elements — stone, altitude, weather, and human effort against them . This image shows the sharp, weathered ridgeline of Aiguilles de la Balme above Col de la Madeleine, one of the Alps' classic Tour climbs.
